What happens when you give a creative genius a camera and some spare time? He makes a video!

When Thom Bresh received the No. 1 of 100 Merle Travis Model from Martin Guitars, he brought it in to tweak to his exacting standards.

The resulting video is available on Bresh TV - YouTube. Click on the picture of me holding Thom's new guitar and watch the video. Make sure you select high definition for clarity.

Ladies and gentlemen. Allow me to introduce Melissa Reaves. http://www.melissareaves.com/

Ms. Reaves is homemade, rocks beyond whatever descriptions people may use (Amazing/Outstanding/Super Star/Like Joplin) and will leave you knowing you have seen and heard what the music has been doing while you weren't looking. She may need her own radio station.

If being original is the ultimate goal of an artist, then Melissa Reaves is an accomplished artist. Melissa Reaves just  flat rocks! No bells, no whistles, no pyrotechnics/business managers/or distractions; Melissa, you and music. Prepare to be moved.
Thom Bresh has moved his videographer and musical creativity to Scottsdale, Arizona.
Adios, Nashville, Hola Scottsdale!  (Blue skies, nothing but blue skies .................... (Irving Berlin)

We love him, threw him a bash and each of us has planned to go see him at some time.

However, this shop will hold a day of mourning at the loss of proximity of yet another Nashville talent gone to a better place.

The good news is Thom isn't dead and we can always call him. Whew! With all the talent crossing over, I am glad this one isn't so distant!

I just thought it would be good to mourn his loss while he was still alive to appreciate it.

I was rushing to the shop when the appointment I had, called to reschedule. The next phone call was from a young man, a very polite with a kind voice who asked if I could look at his Ukulele. The instrument is making a strong comeback in my awareness so I did not think twice about it as a curiosity and of course, said yes. When I arrived at the shop, there was Jake Shimabukro and two of the most perfect instruments I had ever seen!

The Kamaka Ukulele's  were uncommonly precise in their craftsmanship and beauty. Their caretaker, Jake was uncommonly humble and polite.

Cut to the end of a wonderful conversation, diagnosis of his instrument and you end up with a flow of love and kindness in the shop among all of us there.

300px wide image Benedetto Guitars - Bob Benedetto has been making the ultimate jazz guitar for many years. His eye for detail and design and his standards for quality control have made his instruments the Holy Grail of guitars, in my opinion.

Howard Paul, Bob's partner in the company, gave us a tour of the facility. We were treated with kindness and graciousness as we toured the shop.

Bob Benedetto still checks every instrument leaving the shop. He still hand crafts the guitars he is famous for and is very hands on with all the guitars produced there. Bob has not succumbed to the "profit over product", so prevalent in this industry.

If you have not experienced a Benedetto Guitar, you have not experienced the craftsmanship for which others strive.

    FEATURED PRODUCTS

You shouldn't need a recording contract before you can own a handmade guitar. I'm TJ Baden, owner of Baden Guitars, and that's why I started this company. I believe handmade still maters. We set out to offer a truly handmade guitar at a price that's reasonable. We wanted a guitar distilled to its purest form. No unnecessary inlays. Not even any fret markers. Just pure guitar, and pure music. Some people say I'm very unrealistic to offer truly handmade guitars for the price of manufactured guitars. I say: you'll be the judge of that.

This excerpt is taken from the Baden website. Check it out and watch the changes. History is being made. Let's hope it is here.                    http://www.badenguitars.com/

    Voyage Air Guitars

One major product is a traveling guitar that fits on a carry-on space with the airlines! It is sturdy, well thought out and actually works as designed! I am promoting this in the interest of those who must travel with a guitar and actually would like to play something of quality when they arrive!
    Headway Acoustic Pickups
I am always looking for a pickup to use in a guitar that actually excels and is not a rehash of the same old stuff.

Thom had heard and liked the Headway Pickup out of England. Simple to install, and BAM! , it sounds like the guitar and not the electronics in a guitar.

This is the shop's new featured pickup. I like them! So do many major artists in Nashville.
This young man with the old guitar is Danny Radar.

Danny is considered Country Music royalty as he is a 3rd generation Country Cat. Danny is currently playing with Gretchen Wilson and was recently with Leanne Rhimes.
You have heard Danny somewhere. He is also a major studio musician.
Keith Horne walks in with a couple of cases. In one is a gift from Teddy Gentry of "Alabama". The link is to his website.

This is the black MusicMan that Teddy played when the group was winning every award and dominating the charts.

The second is a custom MusicMan made for Keith Horne. Keith is actually smiling because I am buying lunch.
A gentleman walks in with a nice old Harmony guitar and asks me some questions on how to restore it. We talked and he says, "Didn't you used to write for Famous music?".

My life has changed because of that simple statement. All good questions should do that.

How much am I willing to do with the change is still in the works, but it looks promising.

He is the latest member of the Ed Beaver Guitar Owners club, with all the perks thereof.. (One of which is instant recognition that the owner is a player and not a name collector.).

Jim has just finished an album "Can You Still Rock" (good one too!).
Jim Pasquale with the Original Flares

Jim is the guitar player on the left. That is an original Peavey electric in his hands. Do check out his site!

A bunch of local boys gone bad. Stevie Ray would have loved them as they are a band in tribute to his music.
They have been rocking the house and people are noticing.

    Philos

Vince Romanelli is playing a crème Beavercaster w/ Joe Barden pickups.

Why? Because he believes and he plays it hard as he can.

    Check out Vince at http://www.vinceromanelli.com/.

If the world belongs to the future generation, we just may make it.

    Rockie Lynne

    Rockie Lynne

Proving that the industry does have its merits. Rockie is truly a grand person with a true heart and he as hits! Watch for his new release on a new label with a great team of players and management!

    Michael Spriggs

    Michael Spriggs

More magic in the fingers of this Nashville Cat than is comprehensible. In a business full of marketing, there is nothing you can say about Michael's talent that has not been proven repeatedly. He is a major artist/session cat!

    Dan Schafer

    Dan Schafer

One of Nashville's busiest and hardest working musicians. I use him as a standard to the new guys. If you can't do this, go home. If I was a player, I would be going home. Dan is incredible.

    John Prine

    John Prine

If you have to ask, you would not understand. Kindness, humor, and truth; an artist to be revered, but he won't let you.

    Zakk Wylde

Zakk Wylde - Black Label Society

Power, in your face rock and roll. No excuses and no prisoners. He sure impressed this old man.

    George Thorogood

    George Thorogood & The Destroyers

In your ear and there is no tomorrow. No questions. My type of guy! Why is this album cover here? Kyle Jones of Stage Call with a couple of shop visitors.

    Steve Azar

    Steve Azar

A friend for life. He has a new record and new bus. Watch this artist! That is Mark Easterling on the left. Texas blues player from hell (actually, Dallas).

    Professor Flo

    Professor Flo

Professor Flo of "Flo and Eddie", "The Turtles" and Frank Zappa'a "Mothers of Invention". A kind and humorous incredible talent. Do look into his music. You will see someone ageless.

    Marjorie Thompson

    Marjorie Thompson

Marjorie "Mosugar" Thompson shown with bassist Greg Franklin. An incredible songstress and finger picking stylist, Marjorie is doing very well. Ritchie Havens thinks so too.
Greg has played on several continents as well and was recently seen backing up members of Hot Tuna. He is currently touring with Marjorie.

    Matt Hauer

Matt Hauer of She Daisy and the Van Zants

Looks good, plays great and is a really good person. He likes to fish, loves to play and was in the video! The Les Paul he is holding has no fretboard! It does now and it rocks!

    Marl Elliott

    Mark Elliott

Mark Elliott is a singer songwriter that has Nashville tapped. He writes about life in a very unique way. Mark has written for several major artists and publishers. His newest album is "Pickin' Blackberries". Don't be the last one to buy this album. You will have missed out - kind of like Woodstock.

The Raconteurs  Rocking young band with high energy. Ouch!

38 Special Rock and Roll lives and prospers. Unbelievable!

Peter Moon Band Peter has heart and he has talent. He is living the dream. He just released a new album. It is very good!
